From the Editor’s Desk
February 2010

Lots of celebrations this edition – President’s Day, the Super Bowl – how ’bout those Saints! … and birthdays. My own dear momma, Jean Duttenhaver turns 85, and Tybee’s “Miss Sylvia” Gott celebrates her 101st – Doc’s Bar its 62nd. The first two weekends in February also brings island visitors in for Super Museum Sunday, the Critz Tybee Run, then Mardi Gras Tybee, and Valentine’s Day/Tie the Knot on Tybee. Saint Michael’s School brought in quite a bit with their reverse raffle, too. “Third Thursdays” debuts on The Strand on Feb. 18th, Tybee Arts is helping host another Ga. Seminars by the Sea “Porcelain Painters” Retreat towards the end of the month, Friends of the Tybee Theater is having a “Dinner for the Theater” fundraiser and all this is happening during “off-season.” Just wait ’til the Miley movie opens March 31st…

On a sad note, Tybee lost several of its finest in January. Sincere condolenses go to the familes of Eddie Crone, Elinor Clark and Rennie Painter.

Thanks for reading!
