March 13th, 2010 – 3:00 p.m.
Parade assembles at Memorial Park, Tybee Island, GA.
Procession moves down Butler Avenue onto Tybrisa Street, and ends on Strand Avenue.
Tybee’s Irish Heritage Parade was initiated seven years ago by former City Councilman Jimmy Burke, and son Jay Burke to allow locals to celebrate their Irish Heritage, and participation has increased every year. Tybee’s Irish families will be marching, as well as local bands, troupes of bag pipers led by the Grand Marshall and students from Saint Michael’s School, and there will be many festive floats and vehicles filled with smiling Irish faces – the Alee Temple Shriners always add a special flare, as well as the colorful Junkanoo Band! You’ll never know who else might show – in 2009 the famous Clydesdales made a special appearance!
If your company, organization or Irish family is interested in being in the parade, please contact the parade chairman, Jay Burke by e-mail at gibsonburke71@aol.com, or call (912) 667-8382. Bring the kids, a cooler and your lawn chairs, and join the locals for a fun filled day “wearin’ the green” on Tybee!
